March ' 18: Spring it On at Crowstone St. Georges URC

By Southend Vox Choir Member, Jul 26 2018 02:04PM

It was lovely to be invited to sing at our old haunt, Crowstone United Reform Church (now renamed St. Georges) with our concert 'Spring it On'. The weather was considerably better than it had been for a while, which meant that we were able to sing to a large audience. The recent spate of unseasonal snowy, wintry weather conditions had made this an interesting term. On one occasion the weather had been so bad our rehearsal had to be cancelled. Not to be thwarted by a spot of snow, our ever resourceful MD organised a Facebook live streaming session so that we could rehearse in the comfort and warmth of our own homes. Excellent stuff!

We began our concert by singing a Stevie Wonder medley as we walked on stage. Our other songs included our dance numbers 'Uptown Funk' and 'One Night Only', pop classics such as 'California Dreaming', show songs including '42nd Street' and more recent pop songs like Coldplay's 'Viva la Vida' and Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph'. We do like to sing an eclectic mix of songs! Our Chamber choir performed too and included Adele's 'Rumour Has It' and Eva Cassidy's 'Songbird' in their repertoire.

All in all a very successful concert that helped the church raise money for much needed repairs.
